Graphite is a digital collaboration platform that connects freelance experts with project work. It offers a full range of services, including code review, infrastructure installation and backup systems. Its clients include a wide variety of industries, from small businesses to large enterprises. Its founders came from Facebook, Airbnb and Square, three companies that had access to sophisticated tools for reviewing code.

Founded in St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania, in 1899, Speer Carbon Company began as a producer of carbon brushes used in electric motors and generators. The company later added plants in Niagara Falls, New York and elsewhere to manufacture carbon electrodes for steel production. In 1920 the company was purchased by Aireo Speer, a subsidiary of Airco, and became known as the Carbide & Graphite Group.

In spring 2022, Graphite One made a series of announcements advancing its plan to construct and operate a complete U.S.-based graphite supply chain. Measured plus indicated resources increased 197 per cent and 177 percent, respectively, over 2019 results. In addition, the company announced a definitive feasibility study (PFS) for its Bissett Creek graphite deposit in Canada and that it would be producing battery anode active materials in Washington State to support the EV and lithium-ion battery sectors.

In August, 2022 the Graphite One stock price rose to $29.80 a share on a consolidated basis. The company expects federal tax guidance to be issued in March of 2023 that could result in domestic content tax credits for its graphite production and battery-anode active materials.
