Graphite is the most commonly used electrode material. However, it is not the only type of material. Brass wire and copper are other common materials for EDM.
Although the choice of EDM electrode material can impact the overall performance of an EDM, the process itself is relatively unaffected by the material. As long as the material has a high melting point, it will retain its shape and machinability.
